• 16 % of children – or 1.7 million – have been unable to go on a school trip due to cost in the last 12 months
• More than one in five( 21 %) children who have SEN have been unable to go on a school trip due to cost, compared to 15 % of children without SEN
• More than one in five( 22 %) secondary school pupils have been unable to go on a school trip due to cost, compared to 9 % of primary school pupils
• A quarter( 25 %) of independent school pupils have been unable to go on a school trip due to cost, compared to 16 % of state school pupils
• Children in the poorest households were twice as likely to miss out on trips compared to the national average( 32 % vs. 16 %)
• More than one in five( 22 %) schools do not offer support for the cost of school trips to families who need it. A further 42 % of parents don ' t know whether their school provides support
• 36 % of schools do provide support for the cost of school trips to families who need it
• More than a third( 34 %) of parents in the poorest households say their child ' s school does not provide support for the cost of school trips, compared to 19 % of the most affluent parents
• More than four in ten( 42 %) parents in the richest households say their child ' s school does offer support for the cost of school trips, compared to 31 % of the poorest parents
• Schools in London( 44 %), the South West( 42 %), East England( 42 %) and the South East( 41 %) are the most likely to provide support for the cost of school trips
