• More than a third of children( 38 %) – almost four million – did not go on any school trips in the last year
• 62 % of children did go on a school trip:
• More than half( 53 %) went on a day trip in the UK
• Almost a quarter( 23 %) went on UK residential trips
• More than one in seven( 15 %) children went on overseas trips
• Almost seven in ten( 69 %) primary school pupils went on a school trip in the last year
• More than six in ten( 62 %) primary school pupils went on a non-residential UK trip, compared to the national average of 53 % of pupils
• Children aged 10 to 11 are twice as likely to have been on UK residential trips in the last year, compared to the national average( 46 % compared to 23 % nationally)
• Fewer than half( 48 %) of children in the poorest households went on any school trips last year, compared to more than three quarters( 76 %) of children in the richest households
• Children in the West Midlands( 67 %), East Midlands( 66 %) or the South East( 66 %) are the most likely to have done so
• Children in Scotland( 50 %), Northern Ireland( 51 %) and the North East( 53 %) are less likely to have gone on any school trips in the last 12 months
