600,000 parents of a child with special educational needs have struggled to find a school with adequate provision for their child

• 965,000( 40 %) parents with a child with SEN have experienced mental health problems- 852,000( 34 %) have experienced financial strain due to additional costs of having a child with SEN and 832,000( 33 %) report tensions with family members at home
• Almost one in four( 23 %) low-income parents of a child at school who has special educational needs has given up work to care for their child
• More than a third( 37 %) of parents with a household income over £ 100,000 have accessed private help to manage their child’ s special educational needs, compared to just one in eight( 13 %) in households with incomes under £ 50,000
